Nokwazi Dlamini is a singer, songwriter, and former backup vocalist professionally with the stage name Nokwazi. The artist was born on the 18th of July in the year 1978 in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. During her childhood, Nokwazi Dlamini lived in Pietermaritzburg for most of her life before she was relocated to Johannesburg. Nokwazi is a proficient South African house and Afro-soul artist. She spent almost two decades as backing up stars such as Brenda Fassie and Rebecca Malope perhaps was an infamous skilled vocalist but later on, owing to her strong performance and determination, she got into the limelight as she was featured on Heavy K’s hits ‘Inde lendlela’ and ‘Sweetie’. Nokwazi Debut, Popular Songs & Albums Nokwazi career was launched by ‘Sizwe Zakho’ in the year 1996 who noticed her and her vocal expertise, and subsequently introduced her to ‘Rebecca Malope’. Subsequently, she became Rebecca Malope’s backing vocalist and also acted in some music videos of Rebecca Malope. Following some time, she joined the famous gospel group, “Pure Magic'' where she recorded numerous tracks that also gave her a good fanbase. As a result of having made a name for herself as a backup vocalist, she moved to Johannesburg. In Joburg, she became a backup singer for “Brenda Fassie” and “Chicco Twala”. During this time, she also worked with various artists of the industry such as Simphiwe Dana, Busi Mhlongo, Thandiswa Mazwai, Bongo Maffin, Simphiwe Dana, Mbongeni Ngema, Duma Ndlovu, and many more. In 2013, Nokwazi chose to proceed with her solo profession and was signed by a huge record label Kalawa Jazmee by Oskido. This is when she released her debut by the project which was titled - The Brothers of Peace’s song ‘Wamuhle’. The song became a hit and gave her a huge fan base and recognition across the country. Nokwazi has collaborated with house music artists such as TNS, Oskido, Mobi Dixon, Prince Bulo, and many more. She has also worked with a UK Based Group, Matta Fix.
